Create and Take Kits for In School Field Trip Activities

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to keep the fun in learning in your classrooms since 2014 as an approved Edmonton Public School Board Vendor. For multiple reasons, including COVID-19, we have changed how we are able to deliver our programs.

We are no longer able to offer instructor led programs. However, we are able to offer a way for you, the teacher, to give your students a teacher-led in-school field trip activity at your convenience. As society navigates the “new normal”, your in-school field trip activities can occur as scheduled as you will not be dependent on the health of instructors to lead the activities.

We have developed and packaged Create and Take Kits as individual kits for each student. These take home kits will offer the students project based learning in the classroom. Students will take home all of the pieces received in their kits. These kits can be a one-time activity or used multiple times to support the curriculum. Also, our kits are a great way for students to learn when classes are using on-line learning.

Teachers, we have created our Create and Take Kits with easy to follow instructions. You can use these kits for a day, a week, a month, a unit, or all year to reach the curriculum objectives. The teacher will decide when the kits go home. These kits will be LEGO® bricks which are high quality and reusable. Students are proud of their building accomplishments and can show their family what they built in the classroom as proof of learning.

LEGO® bricks are a great teaching material to help students to be fully engaged while they create and learn. The benefits to our Create and Take Kits are high student engagement, developing fine motor skills, enhancing finger dexterity, critical thinking, problem solving, following instructions and increasing self-confidence.

Prepayment is not required as an invoice will be emailed once kits are delivered. As students may be added to your class throughout the year, you may want to estimate how many kits you will need for the full school year.

Pricing of kits are listed below for each grade level. As limited quantities may be available, please email your request to info@createandlearn.ca.

Kindergarten
Race Car Create and Take Kit is $12.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will build a vehicle that moves (race car) by using our easy to follow instructions (primarily images). For some racing fun, once the students build their race car, the teacher can set up races (optional). When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student will receive over 40 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering their design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Mosaics Create and Take Kit is $11.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students build a base (platform) using interlocking plates (thin pieces). This base measures 9.5 cm long and 4.5 cm wide or in LEGO® terms 12 studs long by 6 studs wide. Students then use smaller bricks of 1x1 and 1x2 (1 stud or 2 studs) to create a mosaic (image) on the base. We supply instructions (primarily images) for an assortment of some shapes, numbers and letters. Other ideas could be initials and patterns. When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student will receive over 35 pieces.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
To continue the students’ learning, teachers have started the day with building by the students taking out their LEGO® kits for the first 30 minutes. This helps students with finger dexterity as they use those pinching muscles in their small fingers.

Combo Race Car and Mosaics Create and Take Kit is $19.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

We have designed this Create and Take Combo Kit with enough pieces so the students learn by following instructions (primarily images) to build a race car and mosaics. When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
This combo gives students twice the building opportunity in class, as well as at home.
Each student will receive over 75 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.

This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations of the race car and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Grade 1
Wind Powered Vehicle Create and Take Kit is $13.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students construct a balloon vehicle that moves by experimenting with wind power (balloon and balloon pump included for each student). Please note that the balloons are latex. Students build using our easy to follow instructions (primarily images). When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student will receive over 40 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering the design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Carnival Ride Create and Take Kit is $12.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will create a simple carnival ride by following instructions (primarily images). This ride spins by using a hand crank and gears. When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student receives over 40 pieces.
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering the design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Combo Carnival Ride and Wind Powered Vehicle Create and Take Kit is $18.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

We have designed this Create and Take Combo Kit with enough pieces so the students learn by following instructions (primarily images) to build a carnival ride and a wind powered vehicle (one at a time). The teacher would have to ensure both projects have been built before the students take the kits home as some of the same pieces are needed for both models.
Each student will receive over 60 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.

Grade 2

Dune Buggy Create and Take Kit is $12.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will build a vehicle that moves (dune buggy) by using our easy to follow instructions (primarily images). When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student will receive over 40 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering their design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations and to add more fun and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Watercraft Create and Take Kit is SALE price of $10.00 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will create a watercraft from their imagination. We have included instructions for the base (primarily images) from which the students may build upon. The teacher could also choose to have the students create a different raft with pontoons with all of the pieces supplied. The watercraft can be used in different experiments organized by the teacher, for example buoyancy and carrying capacity. When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student receives over 30 pieces.

We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to test their creations and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Grade 3
Building Bridges Create and Take Kit is $16.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will build a mini beam bridge which is approximately 19 cm long from our easy to follow instructions (primarily images). Students could use items from the classroom to test for strength and/or stability on their beam bridge. Then the students can build a mini suspension bridge which is approximately 19 cm long from our easy to follow instructions (primarily images). When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student receives over 70 pieces (including rubber elastics).
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold some of the pieces.

Create Playground Create and Take Kit is $13.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling)

Students will build 2 pieces of playground equipment from our easy to follow instructions (primarily images) as well as build from their imagination. There are many specialized pieces to choose from to join and strengthen elements of their creations. They can also test their structures. When the teacher decides, students will be able to take their kits home.
Each student receives over 40 pieces.
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering their design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.
This is an activity where the students may want to use a mini figure to build their design to scale, as well as test their creations and increase interaction. The minifigure is $4.50 per student plus GST.

Other Create and Take Kits:
LEGO® Brick Ornament Create and Take Kit is $7.25 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling) if ordered solely as the only classroom Create and Take Kit.

Children will receive over 20 pieces (including ribbon) and use our easy to follow instructions (primarily images) to build their ornament. Children will take home all of the pieces.
We have designed this Create and Take Kit with extra pieces so the students learn by following instructions as well as by altering their design.
We have also included a cardstock tray which the students build to hold the pieces.

Personalized LEGO® Plate Magnetic Name Badge Create and Take Kit is $5.00 per student plus GST (price includes shipping and handling) if ordered with any above Create and Take Kits.

Children construct their own magnetic name badge made out of plates and a magnet which they take home.
You give us a list of all the childrens names and we provide the magnet, plates and label with the student's name on it.
We have had schools buy them to use all year long at field trips instead of name tags for the children and/or teachers.

Please note, these kits are made with regular sized LEGO® pieces and not recommended to be handled by children 3 years of age and under as they can be a choking hazard.

Please let us know what other themes you are covering in your units as we might be able to create a kit for your class as we have done in the past.

The minimum order for any grade is for 10 students. Please note that shipping and handling is included in the per student price but GST will be added to the final price. As you can understand, there is a lot of work to assemble and ship/deliver these kits to you. Therefore, there are no refunds.
